Complete Survival Manual
I'm a sucker for National Geographic books, and this is a good one. It's meant to be a book you can carry with you on trips - small and sturdy. It covers survival in tropic forests, temperate forests, swamps, high mountains, deserts, the poles and subpolar regions, at sea, and at home in emergencies. Very practical advice on food, water, what can be eaten, fire, shelter, signaling, navigating, dangerous insects and animals, and keeping your head. Interspersed are stories of survival, many by National Geographic writers who took a wrong turn or the like on an adventure.
