Trump ... ah shit, this one, I uh... shit...
So Trump tells a rally that if Hillary is elected, she will gut your gun rights.
"By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks," he said. "Though the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."

I thought the Khan family was going to be the low water mark. Maybe the Russia hack thing. Nope.seeahill wrote:So Trump tells a rally that if Hillary is elected, she will gut your gun rights.

One of the downsides of the Internet is that it allows like-minded people to form communities, and sometimes those communities are stupid.

At this point, I'm thinking his candidacy is a new form of performance art.Grandpa's Spells wrote:I thought the Khan family was going to be the low water mark. Maybe the Russia hack thing. Nope.seeahill wrote:So Trump tells a rally that if Hillary is elected, she will gut your gun rights.

I've been saying this all along. Joaquin Phoenix is backstage pulling the strings.

He gave a very good speech on the economy yesterday. Hillary had the father of the Orlando mass killer in the front of an appearance. Trump takes all that opportunity and does............this. It's like he can't help himself. Poor Mike Pence.

Yeah, I'm no Trump fan in the first place, but that kind of shit is just ridiculous.
Those GOP'ers who endorsed him should come out, and strongly, against his statement.
Regardless of the "clarification" Trump's campaign will release, everybody knows what he meant.
"I love Trump because he says it like it is!"
"Trump didn't really mean what he said!"

Most entertaining Presidential election in my lifetime. First debate commercial time will probably only be second to the Super Bowl. Very sad.

Very good speech is a decidedly minority opinion. Even the Washington Post's right wing columnist hated it:DrDonkeyLove wrote:He gave a very good speech on the economy yesterday. It was an amazing speech. So beautiful. So beautiful, I tell you. So beautiful. Many people have told me this.Chris McClinch wrote:Very good speech is a decidedly minority opinion.DrDonkeyLove wrote:He gave a very good speech on the economy yesterday. I thought the theme of limiting stifling regulations that over burden small business and stifle job creation was excellent as were his comments about limiting offshore inversions. Apparently Daniel Henninger of the the WSJ agrees that it was excellent.Chris McClinch wrote:Very good speech is a decidedly minority opinion. Hillary gave a speech w/in 24 hours of Trump's and she repeated many of his themes, some almost verbatim. She's giving a speech to the same group Trump did in Detroit today. Let's see how deeply the WaPo digs into her speech.

Well, at least he hasn't had any witnesses and former bodyguards and business partners murdered that we know of.

Entertaining to watch the media in high dudgeon about what Trump might have implied vs. the shit Hillary has actually done.

It is far from just the media in high dudgeon. Gen Hayden gets it right in saying "you are not just responsible for what you say, you are responsible for what people hear". It's your message.
The second reason for his nomination is The Fascination of the Unthinkable: When the rational fails to satisfy, then why not the counterintuitive? If your car won’t start and you don’t know why, push it over a cliff and watch it blow up. If you’re tired of the same old same old in Washington, why not elect Bob Barker, former host of “The Price Is Right”? It’s like having a walrus in church Sunday morning. The minister tries to explain the parable of the vineyard and the walrus says, “BLEAUGHHHHHH.” Which one do you remember for weeks afterward?

While I disagree w/Hayden's position on warrantless cell phone data storing, he's always come off as a reasonable and very well spoken guy. Trump's more outlandish statements are indefensible but he's not responsible for every BLEAUGHHHHH we hear from the MSM and the DC elites with their noses in the trough.nafod wrote:It is far from just the media in high dudgeon. For example, the attendees at his speech last night didn't infer that he was even joking about 2nd amendment supporters harming Hillary. That inference came came from the MSM wing of the Dem party.
Christina Wilkie at the Huffington Post wrote:To many people [like her?], it sounded like Trump was suggesting that the only way to prevent Clinton’s nomination of Supreme Court justices was to shoot her or her Supreme Court nominees.
I lean toward Ms. Pavlich's less hysterical view.Katie Pavlich on Townhall.com wrote:The majority of those paying attention to the election, fueled by the mainstream anti-gun media which always falsely portrays Second Amendment supporters as cold-blooded murderers, took this as a call for the assassination of Hillary Clinton. It was actually a call for Second Amendment supporters to vote come November in order to stop Clinton from placing gun control activist justices on the Supreme Court. After all, Clinton has said the Supreme Court got the landmark cases Heller and McDonald "wrong" and supports Australian-style firearms confiscation.
