I'm teaching this semester and the Easter break at the college is called "Mini spring break." Don't say "Easter."

Thank the unnamed deity who may or may not exist that the students don't have to hear the name of a holiday associated with Christianity. Even though the name has a pagan origin, it's best that any hint of our Judeo Christian heritage be scrubbed from academia.

Most of our major holidays have been co-opted by new religions over the ages. Christmas and Easter for example once belonged to pagan faiths, then were adopted by Christianity, and now they've been embraced by our culture's dominant religion: money.

America has three kick ass holidays and that's all you really need. Thanksgiving, 4th of July and Halloween. Everything else is dubious bullshittery.

You would like a holiday where you get to dress up and suck on lollipops without anyone judging you.
