Please explain. It seems to have attracted a NutriBullet type cult following.

At first, I thought it was a form of vaping. But it's something to do with cooking.

It's great for when you want to eat today rather than sometime tomorrow (like with a slow cooker). I have one and use it interchangeably with the slow cooker. I'm starting to use it more and more though, but I'm still getting the hang of when to use the natural release method vs the quick release method of releasing the pressure. Worth every penny.

electric, automatic pressure cooker.

was on sale pretty cheap during the weekend.

the big attraction is you can cook something like a roast in 45-60 minutes.

I think it combines rice cooker, slow cooker, and pressure cooker functions.

Joined that FB group Lie Man talked about.

I've seen no less than 4 posts in the last day about some stupid woman putting the device on the glass stove top and accidentally turning on the burner. Seriously? This has never happened to me. Are these people high functioning imbeciles?

The Instapot is great - stovetop pressure cookers are a pain in the ass (even with gas, I find it difficult to hit the sweet spot on pressure), slow cookers are useless if you don't have time in the morning or whenever to get your prep done and the meal started.

I find the food is a little more flavorful - slow cookers lead to a lot of mush and blended flavors to me.

Great starter recipes:

(I use boneless skinless thighs - doesn't seem to impact flavor or texture at all, you have to fish out the skins anyway)

I also make shredded chicken in ~15 minutes by putting in chicken thighs or breasts, a little stock and a cup or so of harissa sauce

You bitches and your faceberg.

I thought using faceberg was the depths of pathetic.

I was wrong.

Complaining about fellow users on faceberg is worse.

This internet person loves it. Only things wrong are the pasta sauce scorches and the seal hold odors if you make curries all day. And the glass lid and steamer insert are extra but crucial.

The seal is a big deal. One for sweet, one for savory is what you need
