I've got a couple family members that verbally UNLOAD on their families and children....and those children got some issues.

Thought this was a good read

Parent at my oldest's (3) daycare unloaded on her son in public and I was pretty surprised. I strongly agree raising your voice is rarely corrective and almost always a result of frustration in the parent. 3-year-olds are brutal though.

Information goes a long ways. If you believe or suspect that the yelling you've been doing is extremely counter-productive, then you can look for other solutions.

I don't need more pain-in-the-ass family members :) So I passed the info on to a couple choice people.

Haha, maybe they'll yell at me over it :-({|=

Unloading your personal bullshit is very different from verbally jerking a knot in their tail. Kids need discipline and sometimes need to know when they are fucking up and its serious. It's okay if you follow it up with a reasonable conversation and two sided problem solving.

Boys especially respond much better to quick and direct correction that sometimes sounds like "you are fucking up kid so you better fucking listen to me".

And then we figure it out.

But never let them get away with having the upper hand. Recipe for a lifetime of problems.
