"The Long Run", Matt Long and Charles Butler.
I mentioned this on the TF in the "bicycle helmets" thread.
Matt Long is an FDNY firefighter, bar and restaurant owner, marathoner and Ironman triathlete. In December of 2005, just after qualifying for the Boston Marathon, Long was forced to ride his bike to work due to an illegal strike by the transit workers union. He was hit by a 20 ton charter bus and basically should have died. Over the next day and a half, a team of surgeons fought to save his life. Long received 69 units of blood, and miraculously, survived.
That was only the beginning. The book details what happened and how he fought to recover and make good on his pledge to run again. It goes into great detail about the remarkable network of friends and family who did so much for Long and each other through very dark times.
I laughed, I cried, and I think everyone on Igx would love the book.
