Went to the theater and saw it when it came out several years ago and I watched it again yesterday while I was laid up in the house. This may have been discussed before and I missed/forgot it but I was wondering how historically accurate this was relative to that time period in Japan. What say you history buffs?
Edit: Duh...Wiki does a pretty good job of explaining it all.

Tom Cruise did not actually lead a heroic but futile cavalry charge against the forces of Emperor Meiji.

I have a book I can lend you about the Satsuma Rebellion and Saigo Takamori.
