Only God Forgives

Holy hell.

This is the best shit.

Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn...the guy that directed the awesome Drive recently, Bronson and the classic Valhalla Rising.

Aesthetically similar to Drive, lots of neon and darkness.

Set in Thailand, graphic crazy violence, Muay Thai, blades (and guns), crazy relationships.

It is on On Demand right now.

I will call it a must-see on the T200 scale. The best movie since (but better than) Spring Breakers.

Probably should've noted the lack of ladyboys. I know that will be a disappointment.

Rex Reed said this is one of the top five worst movies ever made, but Rex Reed saying that makes me think I'd like it.

Only God Forgives was an awesome movie. I get why a lot of people hated it. Some people were expecting "Drive 2" and it wasn't like that. It was almost a mix of Lynch and Kubrick in some ways. I watched it twice, the first time I was like "wtf" and the second time I appreciated it a lot more. The main Thai actor in the movie is badass and is a high ranking kendo guy.

That's the best thing said about this movie so far. "Drive" was severely overrated.

Severely.
And a waste of Christina Hendricks.

I liked Drive, but it was a rip off of the 1970's classic "The Driver", starting Ryan Oneil which was an omage (Polite French word for rip off) to "Le Samourai" starting Alain Delon. Le Samourai is one of my favorite films.

I liked Drive better than both Le Samourai and the Driver. Would like to see Le Samourai again though...only saw it once and it was years ago. The Driver I watched again recently.

I liked all three movies and would agree Drive is more accessable and watchable. You need to know something about Bushido to get Le Samourai.

BTW-"Le Cercle Rouge" is another favorite starting Delon.

Le Samourai was excellent. Drive I liked, but not that much.
